      TEA PREPARATION
      Infusing tea – the process of steeping tea leaves for a perfect cup – is an involved art. The materials are seemingly humble: water, loose tea leaves, a teapot of choice; yet a single cup of tea evokes the power of the imagination and can become a transformative moment when these three elements become one.

      A cup of tea can signal the start of a new day as you gently awaken your senses. Championing a conversation between friends or nurturing a moment of calm within a sip of stillness, tea is about taking time for yourself and others. The everyday art of making tea begins with exceptional ingredients, complete with a little time and know-how.

      The perfect infusion is found in embracing the poetry and precision of the craft. A perfect cup of tea is the reflection of a life well lived – the character that you taste in each unexpected sip. It is the sense of the experiential: and how you nuance a cup of tea that makes it exceptional.

      THE PERFECT CUP

      When preparing a cup of tea, everything should be taken into consideration to get the best out of the leaves: the variety of the tea, the quality of the water, the water temperature, the type of filter, the infusion time, and finally, the tea accessories used to complement the experience. 

      Begin by warming both the teapot and filter with simmering water. Next, measure 7 g of tea into the cotton filter. The secret is to allow the tea leaves time to awaken to the steam before infusing into water. Now that the tea leaves are prepped, pour 500 ml of water – at the ideal temperature of 95°C (203°F) – over the leaves.

      Gently place the lid back on the pot and play your favourite concerto for 3 minutes while allowing the tea leaves to unfurl. Simmering water will promote the taste and aroma of the tea leaves, developing the full complexity of the flavour of each variety of tea. Finally, remove the filter, allow the tea to cool slightly, and enjoy the aroma. 

      A perfectly infused cup of tea is immediately recognized by an inspired palette of flavours.
