Dating back to the 15th century, Yixing Teapots are made of clay, a materially naturally found in the region of Yixing in eastern China, which lends its name to the teapot. Since then, Yixing Teapots have been used in China for their functionality, particularly adapted for black teas, oolong and matured teas. A teapot which is steeped in rich traditions, Yixing Teapot is highly favoured by tea connoisseurs as the clay absorbs the flavour of the tea during each infusion, developing a protective coating at the bottom of the teapot with each use.
