Tea cultivation in Formosa, otherwise known as Taiwan, commenced a mere two hundred years ago, when the first Camellia sinensis from Fujian Province, China, were transplanted to the northern highlands. Due to perfect conditions and an ideal climate, the tea plantations in Formosa flourished, and today, Formosa is renowned for its blue tea.
