THE FINEST FIRST FLUSH TEAS
A verdant terrain that stretches between deep mountain valleys and altitudes as high as 2,000 meters is home to the celebrated Darjeeling harvests. Every spring, the radiant sunlight in the cold Himalayan air results in dormant tea bushes to burst into life with their first spring harvests.
The unique terroir of Darjeeling, with its cool temperatures, distinctive soil and rainfall, imparts a unique and naturally occurring quality that yields some of the most exceptional and sought after black teas in the world, where no two gardens or harvests taste alike.
TWG Tea is proud to have our own dedicated garden on the stunning Okayti estate where we harvest the very finest quality of Darjeeling Tea. A harvest that boasts delicate pistachio-green rolled leaves and infuses into a shimmering topaz-coloured infusion which yields a buttery aroma with a round, mellow finish.
Established in 1852, Puttabong is the first known tea estate in Darjeeling’s history to produce teas that fetched world record prices. This harvest boasts twisted, jade-green leaves that infuses into a golden cup with a brilliant, muscatel flavour and a subtle aftertaste of ripe orchard fruits.
The Jungpana tea estate, formerly property of the Ranas of Nepal, is located in one of the most difficult terrains in the Darjeeling hills which is accessible only on foot. Situated in the south-east at an altitude of 1,300 metres, this garden's flawless first flush yields a fruity golden infusion with a subtle astringency. A certified organic tea.
