Exclusive to South Africa, red tea has been appreciated by the indigenous people for centuries, and was introduced to the world by Dutch settlers. This tea does not come from the Camellia sinensis plant but from a bush known as the Aspalathus linearis, which is grown exclusively in the Cederberg region of the Western Cape Province at an altitude of 500 metres.
