FIRST FLUSH OF SPRING
This May, TWG Tea is proud to bring the first harvest of Spring, the new limited-edition Sencha Nouveau from Japan.
Sencha Nouveau, also known as Shincha Sencha, is notably a symbol of the first flush of the year and represents the art of tea producing and a lifestyle of tea appreciation and refinement. Harvested between mid-April to early May, this exceptional Japanese green tea is the result of a special cultivation method called Kabuse Cha, which shades the tea plants from sunlight for at least 10 to 15 days, allowing the plant to general chlorophyll and absorb more minerals from the rich soil.
The freshly-picked tea leaves are processed within the same day of harvest and undergo Fukamushi-Cha, a deep steaming process which yields deep, vivid jade hued leaves with a hint of ooi-ka. A unique characteristic of Sencha Nouveau, the infusion yields a brilliant fluorescent green cup, a sweet, grassy, umami flavour, and a velvety aftertaste. A delicate tea for the afternoon.
With only 250 pieces available island-wide, the Sencha Nouveau will be exclusively available at all TWG Tea Salons and Boutiques in Singapore and TWG Tea e-Boutique at TWGTea.com from 30 May 2019.
